Eastern Upper Peninsula Residents in Select Counties Can Sign Up Today!
Infants born on or after March 1, 2025, and expectant mothers who live in Alger, Chippewa, Luce, Mackinac, and Schoolcraft counties are eligible to apply. Upon verification, moms receive $1,500 during pregnancy and babies receive $500 a month for 6 months after birth.

LMAS District Health Department is dedicated to improving the health and wellness of families in Luce, Mackinac, Alger, and Schoolcraft counties. LMAS provides the following services to pregnant women and young children to promote healthy moms and healthy babies: family planning, immunizations, maternal and child home visiting, women’s substance use recovery services, health education, and WIC.
The Chippewa County Health Department offers a wide range of services, including WIC, the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP), immunizations, breast feeding support, special health care services for children, and more.
Community Action Agencies
Community Action Agencies offer services that include but are not limited to weatherization, early childhood programs, housing, senior services, food pantries, and transportation services.
The Sault Tribe’s services help improve the quality of life for tribal members and their families. Program areas include education, housing, natural resources, recreation, Anishnaabek Community and Family Services, culture, elder services, and health.
Bay Mills services include food and nutrition, elder services, housing, transportation, utilities, and more.
Intermediate School Districts
Intermediate School Districts provide Special Education services, Career and Technical Education, Early Childhood and General Education programs and services to the local school districts.
Compass Pregnancy & Family Resource Center provides free walk-in pregnancy tests, ultrasounds, pregnancy options information, learn and earn pregnancy and parenting education, and other resources for parenting.
Michigan Works provides job search assistance, interview preparation, career coaching, training and career advancement programs, and other support services to help individuals manage career opportunities.
Great Start Collaboratives
The Great Start Collaboratives are the early childhood building bodies in the state of Michigan. The GSCs are locally driven and work to understand the communities strengths and challenges within the early childhood system and strive to achieve better outcomes for young children and their families.
UPHP is a managed care and provider service organization serving residents of the Upper Peninsula. UPHP provides health coverage for individuals enrolled in Medicaid, the Healthy Michigan Plan, MIChild, Children’s Special Health Care Services and MI Health Link.

Early On partners with families by offering personalized services to nurture their child’s growth in key developmental areas—physical (rolling, crawling, walking), cognitive (thinking, learning, problem-solving), communication (listening, talking, understanding), social-emotional (bonding, playing, feeling secure), and self-help (eating, dressing).
