For the Adults: Capitol Theatre
The celebration of the historic launch of Rx Kids will feature a FREE love-filled, adults-only evening at the iconic Capitol Theatre. The “All We Need is Love” Launch Bash is produced by BeatsXBeers, and will feature local and national talent including co-hosts ABC12 news anchor Dawn Jones and comedian Jerry Minor. Performers include Mama Sol debuting her Flint Rx Kids song, David Blight, Semaj Brown, Feimstro, Flint Institute of Music, and Flint Freedom School. A soon-to-be-announced nationally acclaimed R&B artist will headline the event with love songs for the Flint community.
“The All We Need is Love Launch Bash is like a warm hug for me and my community,” said Alana Turner, a Rx Kids participant and city of Flint pregnant mom. “To me, Rx Kids is not just a program, it’s a lifeline and a promise of support for every mother in our city. It is about coming together and supporting each other. I am beyond excited for the community to celebrate a future where our babies have the opportunity to thrive and experience love from so many caring people.”
The launch bash event is FREE, but tickets are required. Donations to the Rx Kids program are encouraged. Attendees will receive a Rx Kids Teddy Bear named Rex and a limited-edition Rx Kids “Love” T-shirt.
Thanks to the MSU Dairy Store, the first 600 guests will enjoy free Rx Kids signature ice cream. Strawberry Sweetheart ice cream is a smooth ice cream made with real strawberries and love mixed in. Local Flint mixologist, Mira Hopkins has created a special Rx Kids “Love Punch” mocktail and “Love Potion” cocktail that will be available for purchase. The drinks are sweet and red, representing love and the perfectly blended drink.
