Community Champions

Rx Kids is a centrally led, evidence-based program built for impact and scale—and it comes to life through strong local leadership. In every Rx Kids community, a designated Community Champion serves as the trusted local partner, helping lead outreach, engagement, fund development, celebration, and sustained support for families. These champions work alongside an unlimited network of local stakeholders to ensure the program operates with integrity, fidelity, and community voice. Together, they help raise awareness, elevate parent stories, host joyful community events like Baby Parades, and build the partnerships needed to sustain Rx Kids for years to come. We are deeply grateful to the organizations below for stepping forward as champions for moms, babies, and their communities.

Community Champions

“Families across our region work hard, but the cost of preparing for a baby can be overwhelming. Rx Kids will give parents breathing room—whether that’s helping with rent, baby supplies, or simply reducing stress. This program is about giving families a fair start.”

Steve HallCentral Michigan District Health Department Health Officer

“Rx Kids reflects what public health evidence has been telling us for decades: when families have stability, health follow. Offering this program to all moms in three Saginaw County communities significantly strengthens the impact of what we are collectively doing to improve maternal and child health including prenatal care, WIC, home visiting and early childhood services.”

Christina HarringtonHealth Officer, Saginaw County Health Department and BWellSaginaw

“Rx Kids is a bold investment in our families and our future. We’re proud to bring this program to the City of Ypsilanti and ensure every child has the opportunity to thrive from day one.”

Nicole BrownCity of Ypsilanti Mayor

“Rx Kids is such an important step forward for Pontiac, Hazel Park, and Royal Oak Township families. When moms and babies have the financial resources they need right from the start, it strengthens families and builds healthier communities. OLHSA is honored to help support this vital resource for the families of these three Oakland County communities.”

Dr. Susan HardingCEO of Oakland-Livingston Human Services

“The expansion of Rx Kids into the Eastern Upper Peninsula will bring a peace of mind to families within these five counties, by providing them with supplemental funds to cover costs for rent, baby care items, groceries and more. Alleviating some of the financial burden that comes with the birth of a child is invaluable to families; it is so exciting to be part of this movement to support moms and babies!”

Karen SenkusHealth Officer, Chippewa County Health Department

“We are excited for the launch of Rx Kids. The goal of Cradle is to decrease infant mortality for Black babies in Kalamazoo County by providing free resources and support with dignity and having Rx Kids as a tool in our toolbox will help us achieve that mission.”
